Perriams Pacesetter – 7 April 2026
TOPICAL
Our children are growing up spending too much time on screens. So, what’s new? Experts say their bodies are going to pay a heavy price. Optometrist bills, posture related problems and that’s just the start. There is a simple answer, parents. Put some rules in place! To our Government, time for more radical changes as to what our children can and cannot watch. Ultimately, Mum and Dad will pay for this through the health system, where more taxpayer dollars will be needed not to fix the problem, but just as a band aid.
GEM
Jono Ridler’s record breaking 1,367km swim down the east coast of the North Island.
OF INTEREST
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment have released some positive stats following the fuel crisis.
Spending on public transport is up 14.2% and spending on EV car sales up 14.8%. Where is the money coming from to purchase these EVs? Can’t be all bad. 😊
OPINION
The power of Easter. Forgiveness and reconciliation have been among humanity’s greatest challenges since the beginning of life. Forgiving can be a voluntary choice; reconciliation however, is the process of restoring a relationship.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Could this fuel crisis have a greater impact than Covid?
SPOTLIGHT
David Tamihere’s convictions for murdering the two Swedish tourists back in 1989 now quashed and the Supreme Court are ordering a retrial.
Someone did it and someone hasn’t been convicted for it. That, in my books, is a failure for NZ.
THE MARKETS
Allbirds, the New Zealand founded but US listed footwear company set to be sold at a fraction of its peak worth. Allbirds, all but gone!
